Some 30 years ago when I went on a school trip to Penang. My mother gave me RM50 (which was very BIG back then). I went to a record shop on the right side of Penang Road ending towards KOMTAR (I think the shop is called Swee Hin or something), there I saw the BIGGEST display of Motown and other soul music records ever. It is because of the presence of the Australian and NZ air force which were still stationed at Butterworth. Those Gwai Los sure know how to appreciate such fine music. My problem then was with so much choices and only RM50 , what are the records I should pick ? I saw both Marvin Gaye's Greatest Hits Vol:1 and Vol:2 there. With my limited resources , regrettably I bought only the Vol:2. It took me another 20+ years and thanks to the CD revolution that I was only able to procure Marvin's Greatest Hits Vol:1.
With that experience, today I am always very appreciative of those re-release specialists who give me another chance in life to have those records that I missed out the first time. Amen.

Marvin Gaye Greatest Hits Vol 1 & 2 (Japanese paper sleeve edition)
CD $36.99 ... CD Gatefold Tamla/Universal (Japan), 1960s
A very cool Japanese package -- one that features both volumes 1 and 2 of Marvin Gaye's Greatest Hits from the 60s -- packaged together with a separate cover for each volume! The music here is the stuff of legends -- some of the best male material recorded by Motown in the 60s, and some really standout gems from Gaye's early career. Given the dates of the original compilations -- 1964 and 1967 -- it's amazing to think that most of these tunes are from a time when Marvin was just getting started, and still had a lot of changes to bring to the soul music world. 24 tracks in all -- lots of great early stuff we forgot about -- including "It Hurt Me Too", "I'm Yours, You're Mine", "One Of These Days", "Taking My Time", "Can I Get A Witness", "I'm Crazy Bout My Baby", "Pride & Joy", "Hitchhike", "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)", "I'll Be Doggone", "Ain't That Peculiar", "Try It Baby", "Take This Heart Of Mine", and "Forever". (SHM CD pressing!)And you get it at:- http://www.dustygroove.com/
