China's 'hidden' subsidies fuel export onslaught
TOKYO -- One reason the stuff you buy from China seems like such a bargain is because the government in 2023 provided 99% of listed Chinese companies with $34 billion in direct subsidies.
Big Companies received even more in the form of government rebates, which some experts argue are really hidden subsidies designed to slip through a WTO loophole.
