As North Korea sends troops to Ukraine war, Seoul gets closer to NATO
SEOUL -- For several years, Indo-Pacific leaders have been talking about how events in the Euro-Atlantic region are linked to Asia.
That logic is quickly turning into reality as North Korea prepares to send an estimated 12,000 personnel to Ukraine to fight alongside the Russians, in line with their newly updated "blood alliance."
South Korea's National Intelligence Service said Friday that more than 1,500 North Korean special forces personnel have been stationed with Russian military units.
South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol said Monday that Seoul will step up information-sharing with NATO in response to the development.
