Japan's Kishida says Taiwan's security is global issue
TOKYO -- As Japan prepares to host the Group of Seven summit in Hiroshima, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida wants to make sure the world knows that the group is united on the issue of Taiwan."The peace and stability of the Taiwan Strait is critical not just for our country, but for the whole international community," Kishida told Nikkei Asia.
"Our position has always been that the issue of Taiwan should be resolved peacefully through dialogue, and I believe the Group of Seven is united on this."
The comments come after French President Emmanuel Macron raised concerns with a remark that the Taiwan issue was one of the "crises that are not ours."
