Senior IRGC Commander Killed in Southeastern Iran
Brigadier General Hossein Zarifi, commander of the IRGC’s Shahid Sajjad Operational Base in Saravan, was killed on September 23, 2026, during clashes with an armed group near Iran’s border with Pakistan. Iranian authorities say five militants were also killed.
There are also reports that IRGC intelligence commander Ahmad Zeraati was killed in the same fighting, but that detail has less independent confirmation.
Important: The attackers have not been independently identified. Iranian authorities called them terrorists, while other reporting links the fighting to Baloch armed groups.
