Motown vocalist Richard Street, a member of the Temptations for 25 years, has died aged 70.
Street's wife says he died on 27 February at a hospital in Las Vegas after a short illness.
He sang with Temptations members Otis Williams and Melvin Franklin in the 1950s but didn't join the group until 1971.
As part of the group, Street had number of hits including the Grammy award-winning song, Papa Was a Rollin' Stone.
Born in Detroit, Michigan, he was the first member of the band to be born in the city with which they became synonymous.
His death comes only 10 days after his band mate, Otis 'Damon' Harris, who died on 18 February aged 62, after a 14 year battle with prostate cancer.
Cindy Street, told CNN: "They're dancing up there in heaven, him and Damon."
He performed with the band until 1993 when he left due to alleged personal tensions with Williams.

He is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters.

Zoo uses Marvin Gaye’s music to help get pandas in the mood

The Edinburgh Zoo has switched Yang Guang’s radio dial to a more relaxing station. The panda has a small window of two days to mate with his girlfriend, Tian Tian.

As mating season draws near, male giant panda Yang Guang has developed a preference for smooth, easy listening radio. But will it help him do the deed?

If music is the food of love, then these giant pandas are a couple of sultry songs away from sexy time.
Female pandas are known for their short-lived libido, so Yang Guang the male Giant Panda has only two days to get busy with his girlfriend Tian Tian. In an effort to get him relaxed enough for sweet loving, keepers at the Edinburgh Zoo in Scotland have switched the panda’s radio station from Classic FM to the lighter and more sensual Smooth radio.
If Marvin Gaye can help the pandas get it on, their cubs will be the first born in the U.K., the Mirror reports.

Tian Tian is fertile for a very short period of time, so her boyfriend needs to get to work quickly.

Yang Guang has always been sensitive to background music, a zoo spokesperson told the New York Daily News. His old classic station played slow songs, but some tunes were way too up-tempo for the gentle giant. The zoo has tried a couple of different stations on Yang Guang, but the panda is most relaxed when he’s listening to Smooth radio.
“You can often see him sit back, relax and eat his bamboo whilst the radio is on,” a spokeswoman said in a statement.
The U.K. based radio station, which describes itself as an “oasis of calm in a crazy FM world,” has accepted its role in the pandas’ procreation. They give Yang Guang an encouraging shoutout every day. Radio host Simon Bates recently played him “I Wanna Lay With You” by the Sherbs, the Mirror reports.

The Edinburgh Zoo is hoping that Yang Guang (L) and his potential lover Tian Tian will produce the U.K.’s first panda cubs.

The couple’s sex therapy also includes special lighting and extra bamboo. The keepers have been training both pandas to stand up on their hind legs to build up strength.
Last year, the two would-be lovers grappled playfully but failed to do the deed.
Although it’s not clear whether the special TLC will get Yang Guang ready for action, the new tunes have settled and soothed the animal. And Tian Tian is squeaking out high-pitched chirps, letting her partner know that mating season isn’t too far away.

Zoo uses Marvin Gaye’s music to help get pandas in the mood

Panda mating season is approaching and Edinburgh Zoo is determined to make sure their male panda, Yang Guang, seals the deal with their female panda, Tian Tian. One strategic move has included switching the background musical stylings from Classic FM to Smooth Radio, particularly Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get It On” and other sensual songs, to help set the mood.
While this might seem like a crazy idea, it actually seems to be working.
“We play easy listening radio to Yang Guang in his off-show area,” a spokeswoman for Edinburgh Zoo told Mirror News. “You can often see him sit back, relax and eat his bamboo whilst the radio is on.”
The zoo has also created an intimate warm-up routine for the two pandas consisting of physical exercises, mood lightning and extra bamboo.
If the pandas do in fact mate, their cubs will be the first to be born in the U.K. But mating in captivity is no easy task — only a few zoos outside of China have succeeded in their attempts.
One of the main reasons it’s so hard to breed pandas is because females are only fertile two days a year and are known for being very selective when it comes to mating.

According to the Huffington Post, the zoo tried to mate Yang Guang and Tian Tian last year and, even though they showed signs of attraction toward each other, they ultimately didn’t mate.
Hopefully Marvin Gaye’s music will help ensure that both the zoo and the pandas get lucky this year.

Covert Malaysian Campaign Touched A Wide Range Of American Media

Outlets from Huffington Post to National Review carried pieces financed by the Malaysian government. An international campaign against Anwar Ibrahim. posted on March 1, 2013 at 12:35pm EST

A range of mainstream American publications printed paid propaganda for the government of Malaysia, much of it focused on the campaign against a pro-democracy figure there.
The payments to conservative American opinion writers — whose work appeared in outlets from the Huffington Post and San Francisco Examiner to the Washington Times to National Review and RedState — emerged in a filing this week to the Department of Justice. The filing under the Foreign Agent Registration Act outlines a campaign spanning May 2008 to April 2011 and led by Joshua Trevino, a conservative pundit, who received $389,724.70 under the contract and paid smaller sums to a series of conservative writers.
Trevino lost his column at the Guardian last year after allegations that his relationship with Malaysian business interests wasn't being disclosed in columns dealing with Malaysia. Trevino told Politico in 2011 that "I was never on any 'Malaysian entity's payroll,' and I resent your assumption that I was."
According to Trevino's belated federal filing, the interests paying Trevino were in fact the government of Malaysia, "its ruling party, or interests closely aligned with either." The Malaysian government has been accused of multiple human rights abuses and restricting the press and personal freedoms. Anwar, the opposition leader, has faced prosecution for sodomy, a prosecution widely denounced in the West, which Trevino defended as more "nuanced" than American observers realized. The government for which Trevino worked also attacked Anwar for saying positive things about Israel; Trevino has argued that Anwar is not the pro-democracy figure he appears.
The federal filing specified that Trevino was engaged through the lobbying firm APCO Worldwide and the David All Group, an American online consulting firm. The contract also involved a firm called FBC (short for Fact-Based Communications), whose involvement in covert propaganda prompted a related scandal and forced an executive at The Atlantic to resign from its board.
According to the filings, Trevino was also employed to write for websites called MalaysiaMatters and MalaysiaWatcher.
Trevino's subcontractors included conservative writer Ben Domenech, who made $36,000 from the arrangement, and Rachel Ehrenfeld, the director of the American Center for Democracy, who made $30,000. Seth Mandel, an editor at Commentary, made $5,500 (his byline is attached to the National Review item linked to above). Brad Jackson, writing at the time for RedState, made $24,700. Overall, 10 writers were part of the arrangement.
"It was actually a fairly standard PR operation," Trevino told BuzzFeed Friday. "To be blunt with you, and I think the filing is clear about this, it was a lot looser than a typical PR operation. I wanted to respect these guys' independence and not have them be placement machines."
Trevino said neither he nor the client knew what the writers were going to write before it went up.
"I provided a stipend to support their work in this area and they would just ping me whenever something went up," he said.
Domenech, a former Washington Post blogger who runs a daily morning newsletter called The Transom, said he "was retained by Josh's Trevino Strategies and Media PR firm in 2010 with the general guidance to write about Malaysia, particularly the political scene there."
"I did not ever have anyone looking over my shoulder for what I wrote, and the guidance really was just to write about the political fray there and give my own opinion," Domenech said. "Of course, Josh picked me knowing what my opinion was — I stand by what I wrote at the time and I continue to be critical of Anwar Ibrahim, who I think is a particularly dangerous fellow."
Domenech attached two pieces he'd written about Malaysia for the San Francisco Examiner as well as one for the Huffington Post in his email to BuzzFeed.
Chuck DeVore, the Vice President for Policy at the Texas Public Policy Foundation (where Trevino now works), said he was unaware of the arrangement in an email.
"He knew of my expertise and suggested I write some pieces," DeVore said. "As I've seen over the years, it's not uncommon for freelancers to be paid for their work from various sources. I frankly didn't think much of it, having been paid by papers in a few nations abroad and by PR firms, such as the one Mr. Trevino was running at the time."
"He never told me who his client was," DeVore said. "I wonder if they did the same via him? Interesting that he filed the paperwork, given it appears he was working for someone else."
Mandel said, "I was blogging about issues relating to Israel and anti-Semitism in 2010, and Josh approached me about a Malaysian opposition figure who had made anti-Semitic comments and was affiliated with anti-Israel organizations. I had full editorial freedom — Josh never saw anything I wrote until after it was published — and I had no relationship with the Malaysian government. I was paid by Josh for what was probably a handful of blog posts in the fall of 2010, I believe, while working as a freelancer in Washington."
According to Trevino, he was approached by publicist and social media executive David All in 2008. He never had contact with "the ultimate client," he said. "I only had an assumption of who I was working for. I never knew exactly who APCO was dealing with, never knew exactly who FBC was dealing with."
Trevino acknowledged that he shouldn't have lied to BuzzFeed editor Ben Smith, then at Politico, when this first came up in 2011.
"When Ben Smith contacted me in July 2011, I ought to have come clean with him at the time," he said.
As for why he waited until five years after the fact to register with FARA, Trevino said he didn't know he was supposed to have registered until recently.
"The accurate answer is that I didn't know there was a foreign agents database at all." Trevino said. "When all the stuff with the Guardian went down in August, I had a friend ask me whether I regeistered with FARA and I said what's FARA?"
"They allowed me to do a retroactive filing," he said.
Trevino terminated his relationship with Malaysian interests when he joined the Texas Public Policy Foundation, he said.
This article has been updated to include comments from Mandel.
Update 2:33 p.m.: Trevino called back to say that he had actually checked with his legal counsel in 2011 after being questioned by Politico, but had been told at the time that he didn't need to register anywhere.
"Ben Smith had actually asked me if I was a foreign agent back in 2011," Trevino said. "I asked a lawyer friend, my counsel. I said, hey, is there anything I need to comply with? He came back and said no."
"After the Guardian thing, I reached out to a different counsel, and I did some googling and found out about FARA," Trevino said.
UPDATE: Trevino's Malaysia-related posts have been removed from the Huffington Post and replaced with an editors' note that says the author "violated blogger guidelines by not properly disclosing financial ties that amounted to a serious conflict of interest."
UPDATE: The Washington Examiner, where Domenech's post on "The search for moderate Muslims" originally appeared, has removed the post from its website and replaced it with an editors' note saying that "the author of this item presented content for which, unbeknownst to us, and in violation of our standards, he had received payment from a third party mentioned therein -- a payment which he also failed to disclose." The Washington Examiner owned the San Francisco Examiner at the time and content was shared.

KCPO - Renewed Selling Is Back -3/4/2013

The market collapsed on last Monday when price went below the middle and bottom band in one go. all the 3 indicators, DMI, Stochastic and MACD complimented this move by turning negative. So I have established new shorts by the closing and the next day when price went lower than the signal day low. The current market move is also supported by a rising ADX. This could mean this new bear cycle may get even stronger. I am placing a stop at the bottom band plus 3 points.

The supports for the coming week are at 2328,2290 and 2175.

The daily chart bears are not getting support from the weekly chart as both the Stochastic and MACD remain positive , though I note that both of them seem to be making a turnaround. The bears are getting their support from the price action as it has closed below the middle band. The D- has again expand outwards which mean the selling is getting stronger. The most damaging item here would be the ADX. It has stopped falling and turned flat. This is warning us the prior bear trend may restart again. Though there is no new sell signal yet as price action is not supported by the Stochastic or MACD, I would watch very carefully if the bottom band can hold. If it fails, then new sell signal may emerge in the coming week.

I must confess I am grossly disappointed with the earlier infant bullish formations at the daily chart should ended so soon
with a mere low hundreds points rally. But I do not stick onto my opinion on the market and hold on my longs position, I turned short when there is a new signal tells me to. It is utmost important that we do not fall into our pre-determined mindset and get locked up with our trading positions. We must react to every new trading signal that the charts are flashing out.
FKLI - Technical Rebound Continues -3/4/2013

The new buy signal was fulfilled on lat Monday when it went above the signal day high of 1612.50. I place my stop below the bottom band initially and has now moved it up to th middle band minus 2 points. If the market can continue to move up further, then I will push up my stop to the top band minus 2 points.
The Stochastic and MACD are positive and rising. The negative DMI continues to improve as the D- is fast falling and D+ is going up. The ADX is finally falling from above the DMI, this is telling us the prior bearish trend has ended for now. As long as price can maintain above the middle/top band, the current technical rebound would stay intact.

The weekly chart's indicators are still negative as the Stochastic and MACD are still falling. Though the ADX is still rising, it is below the 20's level. So we still do not see a new trend yet. The only "bright" spot for the bulls would be the Japanese Candlestick. Last week I forewarned of a long legged Doji that stopped and rebounded from the twice tested support level of 1600's as it may be a reversal signal. This week the Candlestick is a white body (close is higher than open) and it managed to closed above the Doji's high. according to some Japanese Candlestick trading methodology, they would be very happy about this formation. But I personally would rather wait for the coming week to provide another white body Candlestick that prefebly break above the middle band. Of course always bear in mind that we are NOT trading this weekly chart, this chart is enabling us to look at the bigger picture. and at this moment, it is not yet confirming the return of the bulls/death of the bears. At best, it is still a sideway market.
We are having a minor technical rebound at the daily chart but still having a sideway market at the weekly chart. Watch 1638 and 1650 for resistances for the coming week.
