Indian workers flock to Israeli jobs despite war  concerns



ROHTAK, India -- Indian workers are rushing to take jobs in Israel despite the war with Hamas, as safety worries  concerns are trumped by practical considerations such as how to support families.
 
That comes as Israel looks to South Asia to help plug a labor shortage after it canceled work permits for thousands of Palestinians amid the ongoing conflict that has shaken the Middle East and the rest of the world.
 

ROHTAK, India -- When Israeli and Indian officials ran six days of skill tests for workers in the state of Haryana earlier this month, thousands lined up for interviews and a chance to demonstrate their abilities as carpenters, iron benders and plaster masons, hoping to win jobs in the Middle Eastern state.
