Japan's Sumitomo and Rakuten to join Ukraine recovery projects
TOKYO -- Sumitomo and Rakuten are among roughly 20 Japanese companies and government organizations set to take part in projects to strengthen Ukraine's war-battered communications and energy infrastructure.
Rakuten Symphony is expected to sign a contract with a major Ukrainian telecom firm to build a communications network, while Sumitomo will work with a Ukrainian energy company to replace Soviet-era gas equipment with high-efficiency systems.
Specific projects will be announced when memorandums of understanding are signed at a conference in Tokyo next month to promote Ukraine's economic recovery.
