FKLI - Is Cyprus Really That Bullish To Our Market ?- 4/2/2013

The market opened last Monday with a shock and awe 30.5 points gain which went through the middle and top band in one go. My stop at the middle band was taken out. The price also pushed all the indicators back into positive territory at the same time. So I bought again the next day when price went above the signal day high. My stop is now place below the top band minus 1/2 points.

The ADX remains flat at 19's so I remains cautious on this trade as it may be another one of those flash in the pan trade. Once the Stochastic reaches into the overbought zone, I would advocate taking some profit whenever possible.

The weekly chart is beginning to turn more bullish biased as the Stochastic is positive and rising. The MACD and DMI have just turned positive. This means all the 3 indicators are in agreement. The only item here that is not encouraging is the ADX , as it is falling again. If I am trading the weekly chart, I would buy if price can go above this week's high of 1679.

The monthly chart remains listless as the MACD stays negative while the Stochastic is also negative but it remains above the 80's zone. The DMI is positive but the ADX is pretty dead at 12's. Price managed to close above the top band again. So we do not a clear picture here except to take note of a bearish divergence here.

If I am to talk about some fundamental logics here, then I would say I have turned extremely bearish on the latest EU-Cyprus episode. In my opinion, the Germans dominating EU socialists have just open the hell gate by legally robbing the people of their bank savings. I think the panic will soon spread to other EU banks and their money will be taken out and fly to the Americans'. So what is so bullish about the Malaysian market that FKLI is rallying again ????? If the government continue to waste our hard earned money as political giveaways and white elephants and other misadventures, I am afraid we may see what is happening in Cyprus and Greece happening here in my lifetime (I am 57 years old).  Some friends ask me:- could it the market insiders know Najib will win big in the coming election and started buying the market ? Of course I have no answer to that, but my thinking remains that as long the multiple bearish divergences stay intact in the chart, I really doubt Najib can win big.

IT'S OFFICIAL: Banks In Europe May Now Seize Deposits To Cover Their Gambling Losses

As expected, Cyprus and the EU reached a new late-night bailout deal last night that will reduce the chance that Cyprus's financial system and economy will completely implode.

The new deal is better than the last deal in one key respect:

Deposits under 100,000 euros will be protected

That's very important. Those deposits were ostensibly "insured." To seize them, the way the last bailout deal would have, would have been grossly unfair and would have set a truly alarming precedent.

Now, small depositors in European banks can breathe more easily. At least in this case of gross malpractice on the part of reckless bank managers, their life savings have been preserved.

Alas, the good news ends there.

Although deposits under 100,000 euros will be spared, deposits over 100,000 euros will be seized and subjected to an as-yet undetermined haircut--with the confiscated money going to bail out the gambling losses of the aforementioned reckless idiots who run some of Cyprus's banks.

This seizure, needless to say, will dampen the enthusiasm of rich depositors for keeping money in banks that get themselves into financial trouble.

And because many, many banks in Europe have gotten themselves into financial trouble, this will create a general state of unease among rich depositors throughout the Eurozone.

And it should wig out some bank lenders, as well.

After all, never before in the history of this global financial crisis has a major banking system allowed depositors to lose money, no matter how reckless and stupid and greedy their bank managers have been. And only rarely have bank lenders--those who hold bank bonds--been asked to pony up.

In this case, however, the depositors will lose money. Perhaps a lot of money. And if there had been big bank debtholders in Cyprus, they probably would have been socked with losses, too.

It's possible that everyone will just laugh off Cyprus, viewing it as an exceptional one-off. After all, the Cyprus banking system was notorious for being the offshore money-laundering arm of many Russian oligarchs, so many folks will likely view this asset seizure as a case of "just desserts."

But this optimistic view of the Cyprus horrorshow overlooks one key fact:

The main reason that Cyprus depositors will lose their cash is because it has become politically difficult (impossible?) for leaders in Germany and other rich European countries to bail out their brethren in the "periphery" without taking many pounds of flesh.

And it is that precedent, in addition to the fate of big depositors in Cyprus, that should spook Europe's big bank depositors and lenders.

If Germany is done bailing out countries and banks without having those countries and banks cover some of the cost, it's not clear why Germany will relent next time Spain, Italy, Greece, and other countries in near-desperately bad financial shape come rushing to the EU with their hands out.

Unlike Cyprus, the banking systems in these countries do have bondholders that can get haircut before the depositors get haircut, but the effect will be the same.

For the first time since the collapse of Lehman Brothers, those who lend their money to banks or keep their money in banks are at risk.

Because the neighborhood loan shark (Germany) is now extracting much more onerous terms.

That's a sobering precedent.

And it will likely cause many people to wonder and worry about where their money is.

As part of "The Corporation," he wrote hits for The Jackson 5, Diana Ross & The Supremes and Martha Reeves & The Vandellas.

Deke Richards, a member of famed Motown songwriting, arranging and producing teams behind such hits as The Jackson 5’s “I Want You Back” and Diana Ross & The Supremes' “Love Child,” has died. He was 68.
Richards, whose real name was Dennis Lussier, died Sunday at a hospice in Bellingham, Wash., after a battle with esophageal cancer, Universal Music Enterprises reported.
As leader of “The Corporation,” which also included Berry Gordy, Alphonzo Mizell and Freddie Perren, Richards wrote and produced many hits for The Jackson 5, including their first three singles, all of which hit No. 1 in 1970: “I Want You Back,” from the album Diana Ross Presents The Jackson 5; “ABC,” which knocked The Beatles’ “Let It Be” out of the top spot; and “The Love You Save."
Earlier, as a member of “The Clan,” another hitmaking arm at Motown, Richards (with R. Dean Taylor, Frank Wilson and Pam Sawyer) wrote as their first song “Love Child” for Diana Ross & The Supremes. Released in September 1968, the song -- which tackled the controversial topic of illegitimate children -- eventually replaced The Beatles’ long-reigning “Hey Jude” at the top of the Billboard Hot 100.
Richards’ résumé also includes “Mama’s Pearl,” “Maybe Tomorrow” and “Goin’ Back to Indiana” from The Jackson 5; Ross’ solo single “I’m Still Waiting”; and songs for Bobby Darin, Martha Reeves & The Vandellas, Bonnie Bramlett and Ginette Reno.
Richards’ love of music kept him involved with a variety of projects throughout his life, including the production of The Jackson 5’s Come and Get It: The Rare Pearls, a 2012 release that featured rare and unreleased tracks.
His final project was the mixing of eight unreleased tracks by Martha Reeves & The Vandellas for the box set 50th Anniversary: The Singles 1962-1972, to be released April 5.
A Los Angeles native, Richards played in a band that backed singer Debbie Dean, one of only a few white artists at Motown. He wrote a song for Dean, and the two met with Motown founder Gordy when The Supremes came to play the Hollywood Palace in 1966. Richards landed a producer-writer contract on the spot.
When Brian Holland, Lamont Dozier and Eddie Holland -- the writer-producers of dozens of Top 10 hits for The Supremes, The Four Tops and many others -- exited Motown in a dispute over royalties, Richards and rest of The Clan stepped in to produce "Love Child."
Richards’ father Dane Lussier was a Hollywood screenwriter (Dick Tracy vs. Cueball, The Pilgrim Lady, The Lady Wants Mink) who instilled a love of movies that inspired him to collect film memorabilia. He created PosterPalace.com, a vintage movie poster business.
Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Joan; his brother Dane; and nephews Chris and Cory.
A private family celebration is planned. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that people visit the HAL Awards site and help to sponsor a musical education.

How To Watch "The Walking Dead" TV Series

The Walking Dead's Merle Dixon Demonstrated The Finer Points Of Gunfight Tactics

merle
dixon walking deadBy now news of Merle Dixon's death on the show The Walking Dead has hit the entertainment air waves.

Surely he will be missed.

Lacking, however, in the coverage is a breakdown of just how Merle died: saturated in whiskey, blasting rock and roll, in a totally awesome shoot-out.

It's the shoot-out in particular that has the attention of this post. (Prior to the breakdown though, we should note that Merle literally had a knife-hand — which undoubtedly puts him in a special place for any Marine.)

Okay, here's the breakdown:

Distraction and diversion: Merle uses American rock and roll to attract the attention of several zombies to an old Cadillac. Then driving, and dragging this horde behind him, he ditches his still-rolling vehicle as it enters the enemy position.

Flanking: Merle then dodges into an abandoned building that's off to the flank of the enemy. When the group of bad guys steps up to take out the zombies, Merle is in the perfect place to engage.

One shot, one kill: This is no time to go all Rambo, Merle is outnumbered and outgunned. So instead of wildly shooting at groups of people, he picks a target, lines up the shot, and squeezes the trigger.

Auditory cover: As Merle shoots the baddies, he lines up his rifle reports to coincide with the sounds of the enemy's own gunfire. This way, Merle can drop a fair amount of them before they catch on that they're being picked off.

Now, we all know that in the end, Merle eats it (literally as well, his brother later finds him zombified and chewing on a carcass), but everyone knows that in the Zombie Apocalypse it's not if you die, it's just how many zombies and bad guys you can take before you go.

In that regard, Merle will likely remain top dog for a while.

Kyoto Treaty Signatory Thinks - " Fuck. The World Owes Us."

The Time has Arrived for China to Take Responsibility for the Environment

This is another fine mess China got herself into.  On March 16, 2013, Huffington Post reported in “Dead Pig Count In China’s Waters Near Shanghai Spikes”:
“The number of dead pigs retrieved from waters in and near China’s financial hub of Shanghai has reached 12,566.”
“Authorities in Shanghai plucked 611 dead pig carcasses Saturday from Huangpu river, which provides drinking water to the city’s 23 million residents. In total, 8,965 dead pigs have been found in the river since March 8.”
“Jiaxing — where small hog farms are prevalent — had recovered 3,601 dead pigs from its streams, according to state media.”
“….. there has been no major swine epidemic, but (authorities) said some (water) samples tested positive for the common porcine circovirus and the epidemic diarrhea virus.”
To find out what the Chinese people are thinking, the link to this article was sent to a friend in China. The reply added a new flavor to the situation.

”I’ve read all the news about the dead pigs. It’s so shocking. Till now, the total member of dead pigs is nearly 10,000. When pigs die of diseases, their keepers often dump the carcasses into the river. That’s a big environment problem nowadays. Insufficient laws, insufficient administration and loss of honesty are the main reasons, I guess. Some netizen said: Life is happy in Shanghai. We simply turn on the faucet and oops, here comes fresh pork soup. Though the authorities have assured that tap water is safe, locals still worried about water contamination. It’s difficult to trust authorities nowadays.”
This report comes days after reports of sudden dust storms engulfing entire cities in China, see “Is there a Breath of Fresh Air in China Today?” Add this to the “the scariest environmental fact in the world, that China is now burning almost as much coal as the rest of the world — combined, see following chart.
And despite impressive support from Beijing for renewable energy and a dawning understanding about the dangers of air pollution, coal use in China is poised to continue rising, if slower than it has in recent years. That’s deadly for the Chinese people — see the truly horrific air pollution in Beijing this past month — and it’s dangerous for the rest of the world. Coal already accounts for 20% of global greenhouse-gas emissions, making it one of the biggest causes of man-made climate change. Combine that with the direct damage that air pollution from coal combustion does to human health, and there’s a reason why some have called coal the enemy of the human race.”

Coal
Consumption Source: U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA):

This is not to say China is totally in the dark when it comes to environmental stewardship. China’s investment in clean energy grew from $US 660 million in 2002 to $US 65.1 billion last year. Yet, China’s policy to saturate the market with low cost and sometimes low quality solar modules is starting to backfire at home. It was announced today that Chinese solar producer Suntech, one of the world’s biggest solar panel manufacturers, was forced into a bankruptcy court, becoming the latest casualty of a painful slump in the global solar industry.
In closing, China can no longer hide behind a vale of a developing country and assume responsibility for its impact on its people and our planet. Time is fading and the fix gets tougher. The question is whether China has the interest and the resolve to change its status from – Smog, Slob and Snob.
