Takaichi wins US nod on Taiwan stability but faces Trump's Mideast demands

Japan - Japan is preparing to send military forces to the Middle East  despite pacifist laws. The Japanese government has officially started  reviewing the legal framework required to deploy the Self-Defense Forces

WASHINGTON -- Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi achieved some success in bringing the U.S. diplomatic approach to China more in line with that of Japan in her summit with President Donald Trump.

But concerns remain that Takaichi may get dragged into Trump's diplomatic dealmaking as she tries to keep the U.S. engaged in East Asia.
