China-leased Port of Darwin to return to 'Australian hands': Albanese

As election looms, rival parties align on control of key infrastructure.

SYDNEY -- Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on Friday vowed to return a strategic port in the country's north leased by a Chinese-owned company to "Australian hands," as the country's ongoing election campaign heats up.

Albanese said his Labor Party government had been putting out feelers with private buyers, including Australia's superannuation funds, but was prepared to intervene directly if needed.
