Brigitte Bardot Show
Universal/AZ (France), 1968
One of the greatest Brigitte Bardot albums you could ever buy -- some of the grooviest, sexiest work the famous French actress ever cut! The album's overflowing with excellent original material written by Bardot by Serge Gainsbourg and Francis Lai -- two of our favorite French composers of the 60s, and both a very good choice to work with Brigitte! Bardot sings in a sexy, whispery style that's a bit like Jane Birkin, but somewhat different too -- and the arrangements are by Michel Colombier, Paul Pio, and Christian Gaubert -- three talents who definitely keep things groovy. There's a few instrumentals mixed in with the vocal tracks -- but that's totally fine with us, because they're all pretty great -- and there's plenty of moments with a nice groove and a bit of funk. Titles include "Harley Davidson", "Ay Que Viva La Sangria", "Gang Gang", "David B", "Mister Sun", "Paris", "On Demenage", and "Contact" -- plus the excellent "Marseillaise Generique" instrumental -- used to great effect in Austin Powers!Best Of Bardot
Philips/Universal (France), 1960s
A great collection of groovy French pop! Although Brigitte Bardot's best known in this end of the world for her acting, she actually cut quite a few great records in France during the 60s -- and this set includes 20 of them -- excellent Parisian sounds from the mod generation, with instrumentation that's as sexy as the vocals! Some of the work is recorded with Serge Gainsbourg, or with his assistance -- like "Harley Davidson", "Bonnie & Clyde", and an alternate take of "Je T'Aime Moi Non Plus" -- but the whole thing's a great batch of groovy and sexy tracks, most of them with excellent production in the French style that's become quite popular with the kids these days! Other titles include "Moi Je Joue", "Ciel De Lit", "Le Soleil", "Oh! Qu'il Est Villain", and "Contact".Brigitte Bardot Story
Philips/Universal (France) The sexy story of Brigitte Bardot -- served up here in sweet little book-like format! The package features some of Bardot's best vocal performances from the 60s -- music that runs from her initial straight sounds, through her mod "yeh yeh" pop, to her especially slinky sounds recorded with Serge Gainsbourg -- all really great recordings that rank right up there with the best female pop France had to offer at the time -- a really great discovery if you only know Brigitte as an actress! But if you like seeing her on film, too, you'll dig the images in the full color book packaged inside the hardcover design -- great photographs from the 60s that show Bardot in a variety of different settings, accompanied by notes in French. CD features 21 titles that include "La Fille De Paille", "Neu Au Soleil", "Bonnie & Clyde", "Ne Me Laisse Pas L'Aimer", "Invitango", "La Madrague", "Noir Et Blanc", "Maria Ninguen", "Je Manque D'Adjectifs", "Un Jour Comme Un Autre", and "Oh Qu'Il Est Vilain"Brigitte Bardot -- 11 EP Box Set 1963 to 1969 (11 x 7 inch set)
